*yarngasm* My beautiful new merino yarn

Meet the newest addition to my yarn stash! Although I must admit, she gets pride of place in her own special box because she is a tinsy winsy bit more pricey than what I usually buy. Yes, it is a she! You are looking at $35 worth of hand spun, hand dyed, custom coloured merino yarn I had custom made recently. I've been excitedly waiting on her arrival and woke this morning to a pleasant surprise on my doorstep.

Now that I have it, I'm too scared to use it. I'm going to have to really think up something special for this one! Being in Christmas colours, I had originally planned on creating a Christmas themed crochet newborn prop or two but as the yarn was so pricey, I'm unsure if there will be many people interested in paying for a little hat priced around the $40 mark, but we'll see. This is my first time using 'real' yarn made from merino and I am thinking I may need to buy more and that this may become a very expensive (but WORTH IT) addiction. And of course, it doesn't have to be custom made every time. There are cheaper options pre-made in other textures and colours. I'm going to need to have a shop, and a play, around and see what I can do.

Hmmmmm, an interesting new endeavor for your friendly neighbourhood crazy crochet lady!

Isn't she just B-E-A-utiful!

Snuggly buggly wuggly

It's snuggle blanket fever! And it catches on fast ;-) Everyone has it and it's keeping me super busy. Here are my two latest finished pieces; another pretty in pink baby unicorn and a special new addition ladybug blanket of my own design! Lots more on my list this fortnight, so keep an eye out for those. Ooooh and guess what??! As we speak my beautiful merino hand spun and dyed yarn is drying down in Adelaide, worked up by a wonderful lady I found on Etsy who knew exactly what I wanted. I am DYING (pun pun) to see it and can't wait to get my mitts on that lovely soft ball of deliciousness!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Yesterday there was a Christmas theme happening at the Dear Doily H.Q, and 3 lovely newborn photography props were created! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here already!

New knitting needles! Om nom nom

I'm not much of a knitter, I can only really do the basics, but even still I love the act of knitting. There is something serene and calming about it. I'm super keen to learn new stitches! I spoiled myself a little today and bought a set of bamboo needles to go with yummy thick yarn, which of course I had to buy to go with the needles. I found some really nice colours that I thought would make great newborn prop underlays. Not that I NEED more WIPS on top of my stack (that is taking over my house I should note) but you know, it's the curse of the crafty! We can't help ourselves.

CRAFT ALLLL THE THINGS!

It was lovely sitting out in the park at Fannie Bay with my coffee knitting in the sun with my little dude playing on the grass. He's getting so big now!!! I can hardly believe it! I wish he'd slow down, in another two months he'll be one *sniff sniff* We hadn't seen him crawl much since he prefers to commando around on the tiles at home but pop him in the grass and off he goes! He's funny with dirt and leaves, he'll put one hand down, move a little forward then lift his hand up to shake off the greenery, then repeats the process for every bit he moves. Funny little critter :-)

So I just thought I'd share some pics of our little family outing, my new needles (which I am quickly falling in love with, I can't stand bamboo crochet hooks though which is weird) and a sneaky little something I've been working on in the late hours of the night. Perhaps a new line of pretties coming soon to Dear Doily Handmade? Just wait and see! *wink wink*

I hope your weekend has been fabulous! My parents have been in the Territory visiting this past week, they're in Litchfield until tomorrow then they'll be back with us and heading home on Thursday. We've been having a ball! But that's another blog post :-)

"It's alive!" She shouted triumphantly ~ More unicorn love

I love these little guys!! I finished up the pink one today, which means this order for Chantelle is done and dusted. I'm sure my babies are going to a loving home and I hope that two little girls will be very happy! I must admit that I'm a little sad to see that purple ripple blanket go, I might have fallen in love with it :-)
