On my list

Recently I feel like, in the words of Bernard Black, bits of my brain are falling away like pieces of wet cake. My memory is kaput... I remember nothing. Every thought I have just seems to leak out my ears and disappear. It's INCREDIBLY frustrating. So while I have a few moments to myself, I've decided to whip together a post listing the crochet I've been thinking about lately before my brain frizzes into a pile of sawdust.

Doilies are one of my absolute favourite things to crochet. They take a level of patience I didn't think I was capable of, and are surprisingly not as complex as I once thought. Taking it one round at a time results in a beautiful piece of finished crochet. Beautiful, delicate, and an amazing opportunity to play with colour; doilies are timeless! More people should crochet doilies. Seriously, doilies are awesome-sauce.
This one I've actually made before but I'd love to try it again with a smaller hook. Blocking this one was tricky with so many little points around the outside edge, I don't think I managed it very well. Blocking is something I haven't mastered yet.
Fern Leaf Doily
This one reminds me of peacock tails, I'm seeing it in a lovely blue/teal coloured cotton.
Pineapple Doily
This one has an incredible level of complexity to it, just look at it!! How could I not? Very snow-flakey
Cluster Stitch Doily

Crochet cardies! Gorgeous things... I've been wanting to make one each for the boys since the weather is cooler at the moment. Finding free cardi patterns for boys is a challenge though.... probably safe to say that when it comes to variety in boys clothes of both the store bought and the available patterns for handmade them, there isn't a whole lot to choose from. I actually wrote a pattern myself for The Quirky Crafting Shmoogle Bean a few years back, but ironically, it's a girls one haha. Pattern is HERE by the way, just if you want to check it out :-) I will eventually move my patterns over here.

I think I'll make a couple of these ones and jazz them up with some applique. They are very easy and easily customisable. Hopefully I'll get them done before the weather starts to get too warm again. The downsides of living in a perpetually warm climate I suppose... it's either warm with a cool breeze, warm, humid and sticky, or warm, humid, sticky and wet.

Also on my to-do list, although not crochet related, is the checkerboard cake. My last one was an absolute total don't even want to show you DISASTER with a capital 'D'. Plus the cake itself tasted pretty average. I can't say I was overly impressed with the Great Aussie Bake Off recipe for that one. A nice dense mud would work better. Mmmm a black and white one perhaps, chocolate mud and white chocolate mud with cream cheese frosting and fresh raspberries. Oh baby. That'll be a weekend job. HOORAH cake!

And the last thing on my list is something sort of inspired by doilies but wearable. I came across this pattern on Moogly and fell in love. MUST MUST MUST make it. No idea when I'll find the time, but I really have to have one. End of story. It's called the Summer Sprigs Lace Scarf and it's by Make My Day Creative, it's free and it's beautiful. Go check it out and tell me you don't love it ;-)

Anyway, that's the end of my free time for the time bring. The little one stirs from his slumber. When you hear from me again I'll have (hopefully) started something from my list!

How I got back in control of my anxiety

Has anyone else found the past week or so especially more stressful and difficult emotionally and stress-level wise than normal? I certainly...
